Venture UWA celebrates innovative startups and philanthropic grant from the Malka Foundation
The other members of the Malka Board who attended the Venture UWA Pitch night event were impressed by the event and inspired by the presentations we heard in the course of the evening. We are pleased to be able to include Venture UWA as one of the newest of the group of the organisations we support. We are looking forward to seeing what the young people undertaking the Venture UWA programs will achieve in the future.
Malcolm Steinberg, Founder, Malka Foundation
Venture UWA began as a UWA Student Guild Initiative, led by UWA students, designed to better prepare students for the future workplace. Since its establishment in 2020 it has gone from strength to strength, and through its programs, workshops and events has been pivotal in nurturing over 2,000 students, equipping them with entrepreneurial skills that have opened unexpected career paths.
UWA Student Guild President India Creed welcomed the partnership saying, ”The partnership with the Malka Foundation provides essential financial support, enabling Venture UWA to expand its capabilities and extend its services. Thanks to this generous donation, students will be more able to build on their ideas, challenge global problems, and experience innovation”
Chloe Bull, Associate Director of Innovation at UWA Student Guild said the collaboration marked a significant milestone for the Guild.
“With the Malka Foundation’s support, we can amplify our capacity to equip students and alumni with the skills needed to navigate and lead in a rapidly changing economy.”
The Venture UWA incubator program offers students with an existing social or environmental impact led business or well thought through idea, access to interns, seed funding, mentorship, coaching and a structured business development program.
This event was the culmination of the 6 month program providing founders with the opportunity to present their ideas, progress, and vision to an audience of potential investors, industry experts, mentors, and members of the UWA community. Events like this also strengthen the entrepreneurial ecosystem at UWA, showcasing the University’s role in fostering innovation and supporting new ventures with the potential to create impact.
